WE ARE LOST AND FOUND (formerly BLOOD MAKES NOISE)

I’m beyond excited to announce the sale of my new book, BLOOD MAKES NOISE, to Annie Berger at Sourcebooks.

This book is filled with music and friendship, first love and lust, dancing and theater, as well as New York City and so many other things that I value and love writing about.

It's also about fear. Fear of not being able to figure out who you are and fear of not liking the answers once you learn them. Fear of losing your family and fear of being broken by them. Fear of being out of control, and fear of never being able to let go. And, because it takes place in 1983, it's also about the fear of coming-of-age and coming out in the shadow of the gathering storm that became the AIDS epidemic.

BLOOD MAKES NOISE is a snapshot of a time and a place that matter deeply to me, and I’m beyond humbled to be able to tell this story. Still I never want to lose track of the real life aspect that AIDS still enacts. In that, I urge you to visit The AIDS Memorial (Twitter, Instagram) which captures personal tributes to those lost to the disease, and David France’s powerful How to Survive a Plague, which tells the stories of some of the activists and medical practitioners who devoted themselves to halting an epidemic.

On a far more mundane housekeeping front, for those of you waiting for PRELUDE FOR LOST SOULS…in order to release BMN next year, we’ve delayed publication of Prelude until August 2020, but I promise to do my best to make that wait worthwhile.
